Growin' and Growin'

Where does the time go? Our little guy is 6 weeks old and it feels like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital. We have had an eventful couple of weeks. Zach's brother came for a visit the weekend before last. Finally we made it to the drive in movie that we had planned on since we moved back to Lubbock in May 2007. The Dark Night was an awesome move although usually not my type of genre! Payce and I cozied up in the truck while Troy and Zach sat outside in chairs. I thought it might be a year or so before Zach and I made it to a movie but this kind of movie watching works for the whole family, including a baby that might cry or need to be fed during the show. What ever happened to the drive in movie scene? It is such a great way to enjoy a summer night and we did! Last week we helped Cari prepare her house for the yearly birthday bash for Koda and Tyler. Though only the third, their combined birthday party is always a hit. This year they chose a construction theme with yellow construction hats, pb&j lunch pails and tools as party favors. Instead of cake, we ate dirt...dirt pudding that is. It was even piled up on the back of dump trucks, clever. The 30 something kiddos played on a water slide and Tyler's new playscape. In the mean time, Payce was passed around and loved on by friends and family, some he met for the first time. He even showed off his new grin.

Along with a smile here and there, Payce is holding his head up very well, enjoying a nightly bath, and growing out of some clothes! He is stretching the seams of his smaller 0-3's. We are amazed at how fast he is growing and love the chubbyness he is taking on. I snap so many pictures of him throughout the day that it is hard to decide what to post.

4 Week Update (for you Rico ;)

Seems that Payce changes everyday. He has grown so much and is more alert. He still is pretty calm but has learned to fuss a little more when he needs or wants something. The pacifier has become his friend though we never intended for him to have one much. Sunday his umbilical cord finally came off and he officially has a belly button! He is sleeping four hours at a time at night with a feeding in between. It is nice though that he usually goes right back to sleep after he eats.

Last weekend Zach's parents and grandma came for a visit. This was Payce's first time to meet Grandma Koehn, his Great-Grandma. We had a good visit and of course Payce was the topic of most conversations and had eyes on him at all times!

Koda and Tyler digging for gold!

I can't believe our first babies are about to be 3! It seems that just yesterday Maggie and Cari were pregnant and sitting miserably in Austin humidity in mid-June at a baseball game as we all anticipated the birth of the little guys. Tyler born July 19th and Koda just two weeks later on August 2nd, these guys were destined to be buddies! They have taught us so much in a short time and Uncle Zach and Aunt Christy adore them. We miss the baby days but are eating up the toddler years. We love you both...Happy Birthday!

Happy 4th!

Besides celebrating the 4th of July this weekend, Payce met Uncle Casey for the first time as well as other family members including his Great-Great Grandmother. It was fun having Casey, Stephanie, and Baby Tristan in town for a visit. Payce and Tristan are just shy of three months apart in age. They will be good playmates! We made it to church for the first time since Payce's birth and were excited to see our dear friends Tanja and Randy Couchman visiting from Boerne. Payce was spoiled by Tanja and we were very happy to see them.

2 Week Update

Payce is officially two weeks old today! The second week went by just as fast as the first but we have now adjusted to being home with a baby and can't imagine our life without him. These are just a few updates and changes we have noticed...
Most nights this is how Daddy and Payce wrap up the evening, too sweet!
Tyler and Koda are in love with their new cousin. They enjoy holding Payce and do a great job at it!

Each day Payce seems more alert during his awake times. He focuses on our faces when we talk to him. He is feeding well though waking him to do so is a tough job. He likes to sleep and is sleeping in four-five hour stretches at night. I think he would sleep longer if I would let him and there are still a few times he wakes and eats after three hours. Overall, we are getting more rest than anticipated with a new born. He is the calmest baby I have ever seen... definitely takes after his Daddy. We are grateful for this and know it could change at any time. Like most new mommies I am sure, it is hard to put the sweet baby down during the day. I just want to see every breath and make sure he is completely comfortable all the time.

It is amazing how one person can look like two people even though those two people look nothing alike. We had concluded that Payce looks mostly like Zach's baby pictures, and he does, but when we took a second look at mine, he resembles them as well. See what you think...
