April

This month, we took Payce and Knox to their first ABC Pro Rodeo. We met our friends, the Blacks and Howards, there. Both boys seemed to enjoy it, though Payce got upset when a bull fighter got hurt. It put a knot in my stomach, too.

We took a trip to College Station for Zach's annual conference. We've gone along with him the past three years. It is always a nice get away for us. In the past, the conference was during Round Top's bi-annual antique sale. This year they moved the conference to a later weekend spoiling our chances of getting to visit and shop the acres of junk and treasures. I was a little bummed, but we found lots to do and time to relax.

The boys and I visited a park one day and enjoyed a picnic lunch. We also drove to Independence, Texas hoping to get pictures in the bluebonnets. Unfortunately, there had not been enough rain for the seasonal flowers. We discovered the Antique Rose Emporium in Independence. I was amazed at all the flowers grown there and it's beautiful gardens. I would classify this place as a hidden Texas treasure. We will definitely be back for a visit!

After our stay in College Station, we drove to Temple to see Zach's Grandma in the hospital. We were so glad to get to see her. We left Temple and drove to Boerne to stay for a couple of days. While in Boerne, we stayed with our friends Travis and Sandra and got to visit with Natalee, Matt & Natalie, and their kiddos, Kaita, and Reilly. We met Reilly for the first time and I am sure he and Knox will be great buds! They are about a month apart in age. After a walk around the Square in Boerne for a car show and a visit to our favorite Shaved Ice stand, we headed home. The boys were great on the trip and it was refreshing to have been away!

The following Sunday, our church had Family Commitment Day. It is a special Sunday where they honor all the babies born that year. We attended a brunch and received a gift that morning and then Knox and ourselves were recognized during the church service following. It was a special day spent with our family.

We hosted Easter again this year at our house. It was fun to have all the boy's cousins here to play and hunt eggs. The weather was beautiful and we spent most of the day outside. The evening before, we had a little egg hunt at my Papaw and Nana's house with my cousins kids. It was good to see some of our cousins who were in from out of town, and Knox met a few of them for the very first time.

The suit Payce has on was Zach's as a child. I thought it was special that Payce could wear it, especially on Easter.
