Thanksgiving 2009

We went to Nana and Papa's for Thanksgiving this year. Payce does not enjoy the car ride as much these days. He seems to know when the trip will be longer than just to the grocery store or around town. When we pack up and leave for town he becomes high maintenance. I understand that it must not be much fun for a little guy so we do all we can to entertain. We had a great trip though, and enjoyed seeing Zach's side of the family!

We are nearing 18 months and this boy is quite a ham. He keeps us laughing and full of pride. His vocabulary increases daily. He loves to draw and holds the pencil in his left hand 90% of the time. He seems to really focus on what he is doing and will sometimes draw for 10 minuets. Payce loves to watch us do things, especially Daddy. He studies whatever it is and then tries to accomplish it himself. He has a pretty good attention span and usually is successful before quitting.

We have routinely prayed with Payce before bed and he is sure to remind us if we forget. He has a general list of names he likes to pray for and it always begins with Bruce. It cracks us up to see how much he likes doing some things a certain way... reminds us of a couple of people ;) We are not much into TV, which is great by me. He enjoys playing and does well playing by himself for periods of time throughout the day. He will ask for our hand and pull us to where he wants and then say "sit here" while pointing to the floor. Bossy, Bossy!

Payce has always been and continues to be a good eater. We have an occasional picky spell or a day that he seems not hungry, but for the most part, he will eat anything. This makes me happy b/c there is nothing more stressful to me than a kid who won't eat or having to worry about his nutrition. His favorite food is fruit, surprise, surprise!

When we returned from our Thanksgiving trip, we started decorating for Christmas. This was our first year to have a "real" tree. It was fun choosing one! The tree stand we bought looked a lot like Payce's bumbo. He kept saying bumbo, bumbo and was confused and upset when Zach set the tree in the stand or "bumbo". So we pulled out Payce's bumbo and explained that the tree had to sit in it's own bumbo. He did not love our explanation and still complained about the bumbo under the tree. Overall, Payce loved the tree and was very good about just looking at it and not taking ornaments off. Zach fixed a switch that Payce could control to turn the light in the tree on and off. Every morning Payce would go behind the tree, sit on the window seal first, and then pick up the switch to turn the lights on. We've probably started a tradition (you think, Nana?).

...and a few random pics to finish up:
Payce calls Deuce his Buddy. They love playing together!
We got to ride in Aunt B's Cinderella Carriage after the Post Christmas Parade. Burrr... it was cold!
The cutest little elephant!

Love how he's holding the pencil. Hadleigh does the EXACT same thing. She is very precise in the way she holds and "writes". SO CUTE!
